Who was Charlie Kirk?

According to a White House post, President Donald Trump has ordered all American flags to be flown at half-mast across the US in honor of Charlie Kirk. Kirk was a conservative influential person. He was the founder of Turning Point USA. He started it in 2012 at the age of just 18.

Turning Point USA is an organization that promotes conservative politics on high school and college campuses. In 2024, he gave a speech at the Republican National Convention held in Milwaukee. Where he talked about the youth.

Kirk’s Tour Halted By Shooting

The shooting happened just as Kirk was about to begin a national tour of debates at colleges across the US, called “The American Comeback Tour,” which was scheduled to stop at Colorado State University, the University of Minnesota and other college campuses.

In addition to the tour, Kirk was scheduled to have a debate with progressive influencer Hasan Piker at Dartmouth College on September 25. In his live stream, Piker reacted with horror to the shooting and expressed concern to his followers that they too could be similarly targeted.

In the 2024 election cycle, Kirk publicly criticized the leadership of former Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel and urged his donors to stop giving to the national party. A few months later, McDaniel stepped down.

Kirk was born in Illinois. He got involved in politics since high school. He dropped out of college for political activism. According to The Arizona Republic, Kirk married former Miss Arizona Frantsway in 2021. They also have two children. A daughter and a son.
